Description:
This project was commissioned to promote Globant’s sponsorship of Paris Basketball by creating a fun and engaging experience for visitors in the VIP lounges of the Paris Arena Stadium. The result was a game where users had 15 seconds to bounce a ball as many times as possible, guided by a screen and tracked by a camera system.
I led the design and development of the real-time ball tracking algorithm, using a GoPro camera and OpenCV. The system combined color filtering, Hough transforms, and morphological operations to detect bounces accurately, even under varied lighting and color conditions. I also built a GUI to allow dynamic adjustment of tracking parameters during live operation, ensuring robustness and flexibility.
Beyond the core experience, the project included an iPad control app to manage sessions a registration web page for players, and a cloud-based video generator that produced personalized clips with each user's score to share post-game
The installation was a hit with VIP attendees of all ages, adding a fun competitive environment to the lounge experience. The final higher score was set to 89 bounces in 15 seconds — an amazing performance!
